Panic at the Rusko

Tonal drawing, using Promarkers and fineliner, of an elderly couple windowshopping in the streetlight.

I am 4 weeks in to a degree, beginning my 5th. It looks like I’ve done a lot less than is expected, oddly, and perhaps conversely, I feel like I’ve learnt more than I ever have about drawing.

Coming from full-time telling morons (and I mean that in the nicest way possible) how to eat properly and doing at best a scribble now and then to full-time drawing and developing a craft I give a toss about is weird…and bleddy fantastic, but I have just got in to the swing. Looking back, it was a slow start and that worried me for a minute.

But now, I’m up to speed, so to speak. Look at that up there! That’s the best piece of tonal work I ever did! And it’s all thanks to a little bit of ‘crit’ from Pam, my wonderful – and busy – tutor. All I ever needed was somebody to tell me. Looking forward to the remaining 3 years. Really.

FYI: Rusko, as in Ruskin, as in the building I work in, it’s a pun.
