Ian Camille-Ian

Vector Brush Painting of a Chameleon, on a branch.

Character design is one of those things I like to do and, similar to how I like to draw, I blame it on a childhood devoted to video games.

As of late, I have been digging into Objective-C, trying to find my way around iOS, the platform for iPhones, iPods and iPads. At age 22, I have finally found the courage to try and program a game, all in the name of a summer project: to learn a new skill. Quite nice, then, that I wanted to enroll in a degree that allowed me the time to develop all the strings on my bow and here I am on the quest of a childhood dream.

On the other hand it has also given me the time to realise why I never got into programming in the first place. I don’t think I have the patience, or the time.

Ultimately, this has led me to think of the simplest game imaginable, the details of which are laughable and ridiculous, and for these reasons, perfectly quaint. So for now, they shall remain a closely guarded secret.

Suffice to say, there has been some progress and after many weeks of drawing chameleons, I finally came to an illustration that deserved a name and a paint. Oh, check out David Lanham, it was watching his technique that reinvigorated my will to draw directly to Adobe Illustrator, for which I am truly grateful!

So say hello to Ian, let us hope we hear plenty from him in the coming years!
