EDIT: I found out that this building is actually a part of Darwin College, so there you go!
I’m here, Cambridge, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge School of Art where I commence a new life of study over the next 3 years, starting from…now!
I’ve been here for one week, living with a friendly bunch of fellows from the east-side, totally new folk, then. Accents and lifestyles and colloquials the likes of which are brand new and alien to me; which is nice.
This week lectures begin, introductions to another set of students ensue. This time the common ground is the programme of study; Illustration, or Illustration with Animation. As excited as I was to begin classes, with each one comes a new level of excitement I’ve never experienced before; not counting that time I shook Steven Tyler’s hand — you’ll hear what I mean.
Cambridge, just like any other place, has its kind-of-crappy, not-very-agreeable residents and boroughs…but I live right on the border between the rough and the glorious and the glorious is absolutely that. Today has been a very sunny day spent lazing and drawing at The Anchor, an inn with a very pretty courtyard looking over the river Cam, willows weeping and punters punting. Although the staff don’t seem as happy about being there as I was, if you want to relax by some typical Cambridge, I can’t recommend it enough.
I do hope I begin to write interesting things.
