If you’ve ever bought gifts for me, I think you’ll find this useful. If you’ve never bought gifts for me, I’m sure it’s because you never had the chance to see a list like this. I’m very good at explaining what I don’t like, but I try not to talk about what I like for fear of inducing suicidal urges to avoid the boredom I can…
New year, new design. Much like my Mother, I can’t keep the furniture in one place for too long. Today I launch my new website design, because yesterday it was ugly, tired, out-of-date, and so unfinished. Now, we have something a little easier on the eyes, the culmination perhaps of a year of learning both in and out of web design. But wait, it’s responsive, try…
I’ve been watching a lot of Jackie Chan’s films this week while getting through this brief. Today I looked up at Mr. Nice Guy to see a koala, figured I should take a note. Look forward to sharing the real work with you.
I’m on a tight budget, so here’s a photograph of my Christmas card for all those who won’t receive one. I love you all, dearly. Merry Christmas, and if I don’t see you, Happy New Year!
Like, busy, let me see, from the top: I presented that Circus Poster, it was noted as the “real” one. I take it as a compliment, but I also felt a bit, on the spot, judging by the earlier post on this, I get a lot of hate for producing good work! Things get a bit hazy between then and last Thursday when I put some…
I love chinagraph, particularly the self-sharpening ones, they are also known as grease pencils and look like this. I’ve seen a huge leap in confidence with drawing since using them, they fill large areas quickly and have grown comfortable using them for tonal drawing, as you can see here. Visiting artist – Jane Human – also commented on the difference between the beginning of my sketchbook…
All is well, not much to report. Okay, so currently my head hurts from sitting outside the circus today on a fishing stool with a small set of watercolours and achieving a sub-par painting, but otherwise, I feel a bit less stressed/stressy. Maybe it’s the fun of a new project or two, and ignoring that I still have stuff to do from the last… hm. I…
Last night I went to see Mr. Scruff at The Junction in Cambridge. Never have I been in such a lovely atmosphere for a gig, nor have I been found drinking tea at one – except for that one time I found a lovely china cup to bring on stage for a Typically English gig. The set was immense and had me dancing for 4 hours…
There is a lovely pub not far from Varsity House named The Tram Depot. Set back a little from East Road, through a large iron gate is the heated garden and smoking area, which is where this sketch is taken from. I foresee many sketches similar to this one appearing throughout my year of living in Varsity House at least. PROTIP: Crabbie’s Ginger Beer is 9…
…does not exist after freshers week. Not that I fully integrated myself with the young boys and girls and their copious amounts of drink, but the tone has certainly tarnished and it seems like everyone has calmed down to reassess their financial and academic positions. So, I went to the library to print off a few CV’s; see if I can’t get myself a job. I…
That, there, is Al-Amin, the convenience store, deli, import foods, post-office, butchers, tobacconist on Mill Road; if you can name it, they’re selling it. Illustration Practice Visual Research through Drawing Brief One We have each been allocated a business to research. The brief is to gather as much information as possible about the building, the space and the culture it contains. We’ve been dropped off at…
